Cake Baker - Amely's Cake Art

Jimmy and I met with our last possible choice for a baker on Monday after work, Amely. I will admit, she does some increadible work. Very talented. But I didn't get the best vibe from her. I need a baker who I can feel comfortable with and who is fun loving. She came across too business-like. Nice lady but not outgoing enough for me. Her prices were a bit too steep for us. Plus her delivery charge was ridiculous. It's not like we were asking her to deliver something to Rockland or something!

We're going to pick Jess, but before I tell her that, I ordered a sample cake, to taste her cake.

Engagement Photo Session

Barb was our engagement photographer. We just got our digital photos back, we're still waiting for her to give us a CD with all the high-res photos but in the meantime, check out the nice and goofy shots of us from Sunday's session.

Cake Baker - Jessica Murphy

I went to meet my first possible baker yesterday, Jessica. Jimmy couldn't come with me and my mom is currently in Lima so I brought one of my bridesmaids with me. It went really really well. She's fairly new, only been in the business about two years but she's a great listener and had great suggestions. I got a really good vibe from her.

She's going to make us a sample cake which I'll pick up in about 2 weeks and since we're meeting with another baker on Monday, I'll request the same thing from her and choose whomever has the best tasting one and has the most competitive prices and good attitude.

Table Numbering Theme

I came up with the most brilliant idea ever to use for our table settings. Instead of using the traditional and boring in my opinion numering system that is normally seen at weddings to find your table, we've decided to use Peruvian cities and Nova Scotian cities instead. My guests will sit at a Peruvian city themed table while Jimmy's will sit at a Nova Scotian city themed table.

Soo exciting!

Photographer meeting - Andrew Geddes

Jimmy and I met with our very first photographer we had narrowed down. As of right now, we've got three possible ones.

Andrew Geddes was great. He was punctual and had a great friendly personality. We got a general good vibe from the guy. He had brought along some sample work and I was already quite impressed from his online portfolio. It was exactly the style I was looking for. His price is really really good for all the stuff he includes. We're already leaning towards him but we're still going to meet with the two other photographers so we can compare them all. I'm also going to get some references from all three just to knock myself out.

Speaking of references, we asked Nancy from WEDECOR to send us some and so far all the responses have been more than excellent. It's making it very very easy to go ahead and pick her which we will most likely do. I'm just going to wait until my mom returns from her trip to Lima and then I'll let her know that we want to go with her.

I'm so happy, I know that by Christmas time, I'll have my photographer, my baker (hopefully) and my decorator all booked! The only things I'll have to worry about in the new year are make-up, hair, limo and the dresses and accessories woohoo!

Decorator Meeting - Tudar Hall

My mom and I went to meet with our last choice for decorator. The official decorator for the Tudor Hall.

She was a little over 30 mins late. Not a good start that's for sure. We were going to wait another 10 mins then I told my mom we should just leave. She finally did show up but she didn't portray the look I expect from a decorator so that was another small detail I wasn't impressed with.

Our meeting lasted about 2 hours, most of it her babbling on and on about her daughters' weddings, which frankly, I didn't give a hoot about. We met with her to discuss my special day didn't we? Needless to say, we had already decided 10 mins into the meeting that we weren't going to go with her at all.

On our way out, we peeked into one of the rooms and saw a lady decorating the room for another wedding. We got to talking and she gave us her contact info. So I've replaced our long lost cause of this decorator with possibly meeting this new one to check out her prices. I'm really hoping that by beginning of November we'll have our decorator picked.

Church is booked!

We went to meet the office admin on Monday. She was very nice and very helpful. Our marriage courses aren't until April so we've got lots of time to prepare. We're going to do the two Saturday sessions. It's just more convenient for us since Jimmy works with the army and I might be in night school again by that time.

It was such a close call too because the admin told us that our date they already had one wedding booked so I kept my fingers crossed as she leafed through her booklet to make sure that the other couple hadn't picked the same time as us. Someone must have been watching over me because they took the earlier timeslot which left 3pm wide open for us. WOOHOO!

When is my wedding
